The Cyclope app is particularly well suited to MTB, e-bike, electric MTB and e-MTB riding, and it offers many benefits. While cycling apps all look more or less alike, Cyclope stands out with its unique features.
1- Cyclope turns your bike into a connected bike.
Cyclope is much more than a simple performance-logging app. It interconnects all the bikes that use the app. You can see all your friends around you on a 3D map, represented by a blue pin above their 3D avatar, along with the other riders, shown by a yellow pin. Your own position is marked by a red pin. This feature is very handy when several riders in a group get separated: you no longer need to look back or double back to find out where they are.
The 3D character animates according to the rider’s activity, so you can tell whether they are riding, climbing, descending, stopped, having a mechanical problem or have crashed. By selecting a rider on the 3D map, you can access further information such as their speed, the distance they have covered and the gradient of the slope they are on.
Cyclope also calculates the time gap between you and the other riders. This feature is refreshed every 10 seconds, so you know whether you are catching up or losing time.
2- Stay in touch with your friends at all times.
Cyclope’s built-in walkie-talkie lets you stay in contact with your friends during the ride. You can choose the channel you want to talk on before setting off, then simply press the push-to-talk button so that everyone can hear you. It works like the earpieces used by professional riders, without the drawback of carrying a box connected by a wire.
If you do not want your conversations to be overheard by everyone, you can mute the microphone by pressing the green button with the microphone symbol. The Cyclope walkie-talkie also offers messaging, so you can send messages to one or several people from your friends list. Your friends will see the message displayed on the main Cyclope screen or on the walkie-talkie screen.
Cyclope also provides a button with a spanner icon at the top left of the walkie-talkie screen, which lets you send a quick message to everyone riding with you if you have a problem, warning them faster so that they can come and help you as soon as possible.
3- Improve your safety.
Safety is always a priority when riding an MTB or an e-MTB. Cyclope includes a fall detector, which sends a message or notification to all your friends if you fall. They can then check that you are all right.
Another feature to reassure your loved ones is bike tracking.
In your Cyclope friends list, next to each name there is a button called “follow”. If you activate this button, your friends can follow your route in real time. If they ever lose track of you, they will know where you have been and can make sure everything is fine.
4- Features designed for MTBs and e-MTBs.
Cyclope was designed to meet the specific needs of riders, especially MTB, e-bike and e-MTB users. The app offers features tailored to these disciplines:
Terrain profile: recording of climbs, descents, jumps and other characteristics of your route.
Performance analysis: ride time, distance covered, elevation gain, average and top speed, etc.
Accurate mapping: Cyclope uses OpenStreetMap maps, which provide great accuracy for mapping tracks and trails.
In conclusion
The Cyclope app is an interesting option for riders who want to enjoy features specifically designed for their practice. With its tracking, communication and safety tools, Cyclope is a reliable companion for your rides, whether you ride an MTB, an e-bike or an e-MTB.
