The Highway Code for Electric-Assist Bikes (EABs)
07/10/20264 benefits of using the Cyclope MTB app
07/10/2026With the arrival of new technologies, bicycle manufacturers compete in creativity to offer electric bikes at the peak of performance. Today’s Electric-Assist Bikes are designed with rigorous attention paid to the smallest detail.
The innovations in e-bikes mainly concern the motorisation and its integration. Discover the technical innovations offered by each brand!
Bosch
Bosch offers a new EAB motor, the Bosch Performance CX 250W. This motor has higher torque and a better positioning, giving the bike more power and balance. This brand also offers a 500Wh EAB battery and a Bosch Nyon console with more powerful features.
Brose
Brose offers a second battery that can be connected to the electrical system when the first one is flat. This second battery can also be removed if you want to reduce the weight of the bike. The new Brose solution offers more autonomy and flexibility to the electric bike.
Shimano
Shimano is reinterpreting its first motor, the mid motor, which met with very limited success because of the difficulties it presents when shifting gears. Shimano combines its motor with the Di2 derailleur. This new system offers the bike an automatic gear change and therefore a fluid and faster ride. The brand also offers an EAB battery (500Wh), which can be charged without having to remove it from the bike.
In 2016, certain models of electric bikes will be equipped with a central motor and an integrated battery. Others will have more powerful features in terms of autonomy and stability. Also, the new electric motorisation kits will be discreet and lighter for better reliability but also to give the EAB a more streamlined look.
