Rockrider Electric Conversion: A Customer’s Story
29/09/2025Historical electric bike selection
Electric bikes are popular for practical journeys that also involve physical activity. With many models and different strengths and limitations, it can be difficult to know where to begin when considering a purchase.
This selection preserves models from an older comparison and its criteria of price, performance, convenience and style. It is not a ranking of the current market. Prices, equipment and availability depend on version and date; no current price is quoted here.
1. Decathlon LD 920 E
The Decathlon LD 920 E is an urban bike with automatic transmission. Manufacturer documentation identifies an OWURU motor and 702 Wh battery; the original Bosch attribution was incorrect. Consult the relevant version’s manual and manufacturer safety information.
2. Iweech
IWEECH offers urban bikes with automatically managed assistance. For the 24″ S, the manufacturer specifies a central Brose motor and removable 497 Wh battery. Specifications and range depend on model and conditions; the original front-motor and 450 Wh claims are not retained.
3. Voltaire Legendre
The Voltaire Legendre is a sporty-looking city bike. Manufacturer specifications list a rear-hub motor and removable 360 Wh battery in the seat tube. The original Bosch motor and PowerTube battery claims did not describe this model.
4. Moustache Lundi 27.3
The Moustache Lundi 27.3 is a city bike. The manufacturer page consulted describes a Bosch Performance Line motor and battery configurations that vary by market and version. A Performance Line CX motor or a single capacity should not be assumed.
5. Tern GSD S10
The Tern GSD S10 is a cargo bike designed for everyday transport. Generation 2 documentation describes a Bosch Cargo Line motor and a Bosch system with one or two batteries. Capacity depends on configuration; the original 625 Wh PowerTube claim is not a general GSD S10 specification.
If these models do not fit your needs, or if you would prefer to make more use of your existing bicycle,
Power-e-bike.fr conversion kits offer another option.
- Performance and compatibility: Power-e-bike.fr kits can make conversion possible for some bicycles. Performance and compatibility depend on the kit, frame, brakes and battery; check the configuration and conditions of use before converting.
- Cost: A conversion can cost less than a new bicycle, depending on the required parts and labour. Compare the total cost, including battery, accessories, installation and maintenance.
- Customisation and keeping your current bike: A conversion kit can tailor your current bicycle to your needs while retaining its frame and characteristics. This may appeal if you are attached to that bicycle or want a particular solution at a lower cost.
- Installation: Installation difficulty depends on the bicycle, kit and available skills. Consult the documentation and have the build checked if needed.
